Urgent Appeal to the International Community

The MAS Human Rights Association addresses this urgent appeal to all organizations around the world, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Human Rights Council, all international and regional bodies, and everyone who bears a moral and legal responsibility for the protection of human dignity and human rights.

The images and realities we document on the ground reflect severe humanitarian suffering endured by millions of innocent people, particularly children and women, amid extreme poverty, hunger, lack of adequate housing, absence of clean water, poor sanitation, and deprivation of the most basic rights guaranteed by international human rights instruments. These inhumane conditions constitute a grave violation of the right to life, health, food, adequate housing, a safe environment, and human dignity.

The continued persistence of this painful reality without effective intervention represents a serious failure to uphold international obligations, contributes to the deepening of human suffering, and threatens the future of entire generations. Accordingly, we call for the following:

  1. Urgent international intervention to protect the most vulnerable groups, particularly children and women, and to ensure access to their basic needs.

  2. The Human Rights Council to fulfill its responsibilities by monitoring these violations, launching independent investigations, and holding those responsible accountable.

  3. A call upon the Secretary-General of the United Nations to take immediate and practical steps to mobilize international support and activate humanitarian and human rights protection mechanisms.

  4. Strengthening humanitarian and development assistance in a fair and organized manner to ensure the delivery of food, healthcare, clean water, and adequate housing to those affected.

  5. Working toward sustainable solutions that address the root causes of poverty and marginalization, and that guarantee social justice, equity, and human dignity for all.

Human dignity is neither divisible nor negotiable, and the silence of the world in the face of such suffering constitutes indirect complicity in its continuation. We appeal to the conscience of the free people everywhere and demand serious and responsible action to put an end to these violations and restore every human being’s right to a safe and dignified life.

MAS Human Rights Association
Affirms that the time has come to move from expressions of concern to real actions that protect human beings and uphold their dignity.

Tragedy from below the poverty line

Devastation

  • This embodies a harsh humanitarian suffering that reflects a clear violation of fundamental human rights. We see women working under extremely dangerous conditions amid piles of wood and debris, without any protective equipment or safety guarantees. This scene indicates extreme poverty, the absence of decent work opportunities, and the forced engagement of women in exhausting labor that threatens their health and dignity in order to survive.
  • What appears in the image is a direct result of social and economic marginalization, the lack of social justice, and the failure of the state and society to provide humane alternatives that safeguard the human right to safe work, health, and a dignified life. The image also reflects a double burden borne by women, where poverty intersects with gender-based discrimination.
  • At MAS Human Rights Association, we affirm that this suffering should not be treated as a normal reality, but rather as an urgent call for action. We call for the provision of social protection, the creation of decent work opportunities, the assurance of safe working environments, and the accountability of responsible authorities for leaving large segments of society vulnerable to poverty and exploitation. Human dignity is an inherent right that must not be compromised, and this image stands as living evidence of the urgent need to act to achieve justice and protect the rights of those affected.

Struggle with food

  • This embodies a profound humanitarian suffering that strikes at the core of children’s rights and reveals a harsh reality faced by children who have been deprived of the most basic necessities of a dignified life. The image shows children sitting on the edge of a deteriorating mud wall, eating a very simple meal in an environment that lacks even the minimum standards of safety, health, and care.
  • This scene reflects extreme poverty, malnutrition, and the absence of social protection, and clearly indicates violations of children’s rights to adequate food, health, decent housing, and a safe life. It also exposes a reality in which children are forced to live with deprivation instead of enjoying their natural rights to childhood, education, play, and healthy development.
  • At MAS Human Rights Association, we affirm that what this image reflects is not an isolated case, but rather the result of ongoing failure to protect the most vulnerable groups, foremost among them children. This suffering represents an urgent call to the community, the state, and humanitarian organizations to intervene immediately, ensure children’s fundamental rights, provide food and healthcare, improve living conditions, and put an end to cycles of poverty and neglect.
  • Children’s dignity and their right to a safe and dignified life are a collective responsibility that must not be neglected. This image stands as a painful testimony to the urgent need for action to do justice to children and protect their future.

Houses oveer the water

  • This depicts a stark humanitarian suffering and a clear violation of fundamental rights, showing children walking barefoot through polluted water surrounded by deteriorating informal settlements that lack the most basic requirements for a dignified life. This scene reflects extreme poverty, poor infrastructure, and the absence of essential services such as sanitation, clean water, and safe housing.
  • Forcing children to live and move within such a contaminated environment exposes them to serious health risks and constitutes a direct violation of their rights to health, a safe environment, protection, and a secure life. This reality also reveals chronic neglect of the most vulnerable groups, confirming that children are the first to bear the consequences of marginalization and deprivation.
  • At MAS Human Rights Association, we affirm that this suffering is not an isolated or incidental scene, but rather the result of failed policies, social injustice, and the absence of equitable urban planning. We call for urgent intervention to provide adequate housing, improve infrastructure, ensure access to clean water and sanitation, and protect children from environmental and health hazards.
  • Human dignity—especially the dignity of the child—is a non-negotiable right. This image stands as an urgent humanitarian appeal to assume responsibility and take serious action to end these inhumane conditions and secure a safe and dignified future for the affected children.

Our food is one

  • This portrays a painful humanitarian suffering that reflects the reality of hunger and malnutrition threatening children’s fundamental rights. The image shows a large number of children sharing a very simple meal in conditions that lack privacy and dignity, indicating severe scarcity of resources, insufficient food, and reliance on the bare minimum for survival.
  • This scene clearly reveals a violation of children’s right to adequate and nutritious food, a fundamental right guaranteed under international human rights and child rights conventions. It also reflects the consequences of extreme poverty, the absence of social protection systems, and weak humanitarian responses to the needs of the most vulnerable children.
  • At MAS Human Rights Association, we affirm that hunger is not an inevitable fate, but rather a direct result of unjust policies, a lack of social justice, and failures in ensuring the right to food security. We stress the urgent need to provide sufficient and healthy food for children, support school feeding programs, and ensure that humanitarian assistance reaches those in need in an organized and equitable manner.
  • A child’s right to food and a dignified life is a collective responsibility that must not be neglected. This image stands as an urgent humanitarian call to act to protect children from hunger, preserve their dignity, and ensure a more just and humane future.

I will not drown

  • This represents one of the harshest forms of humanitarian suffering and reveals a serious violation of children’s rights and human rights in general. The image shows a child living in a waterlogged environment contaminated with polluted water, within deteriorating informal settlements built from wood and primitive materials, in conditions that completely lack safety, health, and human dignity.
  • Forcing a child to use a plastic container to move or remain amid stagnant water reflects a shocking level of poverty, the absence of adequate housing, and the lack of sanitation and access to clean water. This reality exposes children to serious diseases and constitutes a direct violation of their rights to health, protection, a safe environment, and a secure life.
  • At MAS Human Rights Association, we affirm that this suffering is not an isolated case, but rather the result of chronic marginalization and the failure of public policies to protect the most vulnerable groups, especially children. What this image reflects is the deprivation of the most basic rights of childhood and a reality that forces children to coexist with danger instead of enjoying their rights to safety, education, play, and healthy development.
  • This image stands as an urgent humanitarian call to assume responsibility and take immediate action to provide adequate housing, improve infrastructure, ensure access to clean water and sanitation, and protect children from environmental and health hazards. A child’s dignity and right to a safe and humane life are not optional, but a moral and legal obligation that must not be ignored.

Food preparation

  • This portrays a painful aspect of the daily humanitarian suffering experienced by women in poor and marginalized communities. The image shows a woman cooking food outdoors using primitive methods over an open fire, in conditions that lack even the most basic standards of safety and health. This scene reflects a harsh reality in which women bear a double burden to provide food for their families amid poverty and the absence of essential services.
  • Relying on cooking in unsafe environments, without proper stoves or hygienic equipment, exposes women to serious health risks such as respiratory diseases and burns, and constitutes a violation of their right to health and a dignified life. This reality also reveals the lack of infrastructure, the absence of government support, and weak social protection, particularly in rural or informal areas.
  • At MAS Human Rights Association, we affirm that this suffering is not merely an image of everyday life, but clear evidence of the neglect and discrimination faced by women, and their deprivation of fundamental rights to a safe environment, health services, and decent living conditions. What appears in the image is a direct result of structural poverty, inequality, and the disregard of women’s needs as a central pillar of society.
  • This image stands as an urgent humanitarian call to provide support for women, improve their living conditions, ensure access to safe and healthy cooking facilities, and strengthen social protection, in order to safeguard their dignity and human rights. Women’s dignity and their right to a safe and healthy life are not privileges, but fundamental rights that must be respected and protected.
